QUEST 2015: Quiz Contest on SOLAR SYSTEM









Our L. N. Charitable Trust, Melagaram successfully conducted QUEST 2015 Quiz Contest on Solar System for children studying in Class 6, 7, and 8 in various Matriculation and CBSE schools in and around Tenkasi, Shencotttai, Courtallam, on Saturday, the 10th January, 2015 at A. G. Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Tenkasi. Invitations were sent to 23 Matriculation/CBSE schools and 11 schools participated in the contests. We had informed the schools that they were permitted to send a maximum of three teams each, but only one best team per school would be chosen for the Oral Quiz. There were 85 participants making up 29 teams. The children went through a written Quiz to begin with and 6 best teams from 6 different schools were chosen for the Oral Quiz.

Based on the performance in the Oral Quiz, Bharat Vidya Mandir, Ilanji bagged the First Prize, Hilton Matriculation School, Old Courtallam bagged the Second Prize and Sri Parasakthi Vidyalaya, Courtallam bagged the third prize. The remaining three teams from St.Joseph’s Matriculation School, Bharat Montessori Matric Higher Secondary School and Emmanuel Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Melagaram received consolation prizes.

The children participated with the greatest enthusiasm and they did exceedingly well, for their age.
All the 85 children received participation prizes and certificates. Prizes, trophies, and shield for the winner schools, all worth more than Rs.10000 were given away.

The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by Sri Kaniraj, Correspondent, A G Matriculation School, Tenkasi. Dr. Mr. D.Gnanadurai, B.E, M.S, Ph. D, Principal, J. P. College of Engineering, Ayikudi distributed the prizes. In his address, Dr. Mr. Gnanadurai counseled the children to develop an attitude of “WE CAN.”  He also said “You CAN DO IT “provided the children believe in their abilities. He also reminded the children that several leading personalities in our country hail only from rural areas and studied in ordinary schools.

In his welcome address, T. N. Neelakantan, Managing Trustee, L. N. Charitable Trust impressed upon the children that today is an age of SPACE.  The 19th Century and early 20th Century were dominated by countries who advanced in technology. The later part of 20th Century and the 21 Century is being dominated by countries that had conquered SPACE. Every country is vying with each to conquer the vast expanse of Space. The future is Space. He exhorted the children to aspire to be Space Scientists, Space Engineers, and Space Technologists.

We, at L N Charitable Trust, feel honored by the presence of Dr. Sri Gnanadurai. We believe his presence is a source of motivation for the young minds from various schools, in and around Tenkasi . We are grateful to him for sparing his time to be present for the prize distribution. We also thank him for his impromptu donation of Rs.2000 to the Trust, towards helping a poor student for studies. We are also grateful to Sri Kaniraj, Correspondent, A G Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Tenkasi and the staff of the school for their excellent support and for providing their premises for conducting the contest.


We thank all the children who participated, their parents, the schools who chose to nominate them to the contest, the teachers who accompanied the children for the contest, the  management of A G Matriculation Higher Secondary  School and it staff, Sri Kaniraj, Dr.Gnanadurai, our friends and all others involved with the contest for making the contest successful.
